1. Accepting these terms
These Terms of Service govern your access to Sober Coach’s mobile app, website, AI coach, check-ins, supporter updates, and related services. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Sober Coach. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.
2. Recovery support, not medical care
Sober Coach is a self-guided recovery-support tool. It does not provide medical care, diagnosis, treatment, psychotherapy, professional counseling, or medication advice, and it does not replace a doctor, therapist, sponsor, treatment program, emergency service, or trusted person in your life.
Do not rely on Sober Coach for urgent or emergency help. Always seek qualified professional care for medical or mental-health decisions.
3. The AI coach
The coach is generated by artificial intelligence, not a human being. AI responses may be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, or inappropriate for your circumstances. You are responsible for deciding whether and how to act on a response.
You may not use the service to generate unlawful content, harm another person, interfere with the service, probe its security, or access another person’s account or data.
4. Your account and content
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity performed through it. Provide accurate account information and notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
You retain ownership of journal entries, messages, check-ins, and other content you submit. You give Sober Coach permission to process that content only as needed to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the service as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Supporter updates
Supporter updates are sent only according to the sharing choices selected in your account. You are responsible for choosing appropriate supporters and providing accurate contact information. You can change or revoke sharing through the app.
Supporter updates are summaries intended to encourage real-world support. They are not clinical reports, proof of sobriety, or a substitute for direct communication.
6. Subscriptions and billing
When paid access is offered, the price, billing period, trial or free-period terms, and renewal details will be shown before purchase. Subscriptions renew until canceled. Cancellation stops future renewals but generally does not create a refund for time already purchased, except where required by law or the applicable store.
Purchases made through Apple are also governed by Apple’s purchase terms and applicable end-user license terms. Other purchases may be processed by our payment provider. You can manage an active subscription through the purchase channel shown in your account.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Sober Coach available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Features may change, be suspended, or be discontinued. We may update these terms when the service or legal requirements change; the effective date above will be revised.
8. Suspension and deletion
You may stop using Sober Coach at any time and may permanently delete your account as described on our Account Deletion page. We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, prevent abuse, or secure the service.
9. Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sober Coach is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that using the service will prevent a slip, relapse, crisis, injury, or other outcome.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sober Coach and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights or liability that cannot legally be limited.
